Jefferson Baptist Church began in 1973 as a church plant of Salem Heights Church and Pastor Bard Marshal.  13 adults and their families attended the first service, held in the Conser Hall in Jefferson.  As the congregation grew a move was made to the elementary School gym, and in 1975 five acres were purchased and construction on the Chapel began.

Pastor Duke and his wife Patty began pastoring the congregation in 1976 and it continued to grow. With the start of a Christian School and need for additional classroom space, the Gymnasium facilities were built and completed in 1989. The congregation grew too large for the Chapel, and so services were moved to the new Gym. This was also the time that Pastor Duke began teaching on the importance of prayer, both individually and corporately.  The congregation had grown passionate about prayer and consequently saw even more growth and a need for a Sanctuary. The affectionately named "Big House", an 800 seat auditorium, was completed in 1999.  An 18,000 sq ft Christian education building is currently under construction to alleviate the growth of the church and its ministries.

Over the last decade Jefferson Baptist has become passionate about building churches in the Willamette valley and in West Africa. JBC has four valley daughter churches:  AGAPE Family Fellowship in Albany [2000], Turning Point Community Church in Turner [2003], Journey in Albany [2009], Grace Bible Fellowship in Stayton [2011], Way of Life Fellowship in Salem [2013], and Solid Rock Church of Bend [2016]. There are currently over 30 JBC-associated West African daughter churches and schools!!

Jefferson Baptist continues to grow in influence locally and around the world through a dedication to living out the meaning of the "I Love You" Church.  We praise the Lord for his continued blessings and look forward to being used for His glory and honor in the years to come. We hope that you connect here and join us in our mission to grow closer to God and each other....
